The eModal Check-In feature can be implemented by PreGate terminals for different appointment types. The exact behavior may differ by terminal or appointment type, but below is a general overview of the eModal user experience and best practices.
General Overview
- Adding a truck plate to a Pick Full appointment (or other Check-In enabled move type) is not mandatory upon creation of the appointment.
- If a truck license plate is not added upon appointment creation and no Check-In is performed to add a plate before the check-in cutoff time, then the appointment may be automatically canceled. (Auto cancellation of the appointment is a terminal defined parameter.)
- If a license plate is added to the appointment during creation, it may be automatically checked in and require no additional action from the trucker. (Auto check-in of the appointment is a terminal defined parameter.)
- If the terminal requires manual check-in for the particular move type, the appointment will not be automatically checked in, even if a license plate is provided. Check-in manually through the 'Check-In' action from the My Appointments screen.
- Appointments can be “checked in” multiple times until the end of the appointment timeslot.
- The Check-In action should be used to:
- Add a truck plate to the appointment
- Change a plate number if one was checked in previously
- Users should not use the Edit action to add, or change, plate information on appointments as the Check-In action keeps the original timeslot while managing the truck plate number.
- Checked-in appointments display a YES in the Check-In column of the My Appointments screen.
